Still here long after settlement day

I stick with clients for the long haul, not just the one-off deal

A few weeks ago a client sent me a message. It wasn’t about a loan or refixing, but rather to show me the before and after pictures of their kitchen renovations – I loved this! Here’s a few of the WIP snaps:

I regularly stop and get a cuppa at my favourite coffee spot where one of the baristas is a client. I get running updates on what is happening on the house and what antics the cat is up too. Often we even exchanged a hello hug – a hug and a mug to warm me up.

That's the part of this job people don't always expect from a mortgage adviser. Most people think of us as the person you go to once, for the big purchase and the stressful bit of paperwork, and then don't hear from again until the next big thing forces you back. That's never been how I work, and it's not how Claire McArthur Mortgages works either.

When I help a client buy their home, that's genuinely just the start

Over the years that follow, I'm often there for:

  • Their first refix, working out whether to go short or long depending on what's happening with rates

  • Extending the mortgage when they renovate or add a room for a growing family

  • Helping them buy their next home when the first one's been outgrown

  • Talking through whether a rental property makes sense for them

  • Restructuring things when income changes, a business gets going, or life throws a curveball

  • Eventually thinking about downsizing, or setting the next generation up

I like being the person clients feel comfortable calling about all of it – not just the big, scary moments

Being a mum myself, with a busy household (and three dogs keeping things lively), I understand life doesn't follow a straight path, so your lending shouldn't have to either. What worked for you two years ago as a double-income-no-kids household might not be the right structure for you now that you have added a kiddo and had a grandparent move in.

If it's been a while since we've spoken and something's changed for you your – be it family unit, your income, your or life plans – give me a call. I would genuinely love to hear what's new and talk through where your lending fits into it.
